F.A.Q.

What is considered an emergency?

At Burpengary Dental we strongly believe that if you are in pain, it’s an emergency.  Even a small injury to your mouth which may seem insignificant at the time can actually damage the nerve of the teeth leading to a poor outcome and possible loss of tooth.  Immediate treatment improves the chances of saving the damaged tooth.

What do I do if a tooth is knocked out?

If you have had a serious injury and have knocked out your tooth – don’t wash it, suck it!  If you can place it back into the socket, hold it in place with your fingers.  If not, hold it in your cheeks and get to Burpengary Dental as quickly as possible – remember the first 30 minutes are critical!

What do I do with a broken tooth?

If you’ve broken a tooth and are experiencing no pain, rinse your mouth out with warm salty water.  This will keep the area clean until you have to time come see us.  If this was caused by a blow, it’s important to place a cold compress on your face next to the injured tooth to reduce swelling.  Call Burpengary Dental as soon as possible to make sure the tooth doesn’t break more!
